20 Feb 2012 14:45 • Views: 130 OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities Knut Vollebaek will conduct a two-day visit to Georgia Feb. 22, Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Nino Kalandadze said in a briefing Feb. 20.
According to Kalandadze, Vollebaek plans to familiarize himself with the minority rights in Georgia and receive information about the situation in Georgia’s two breakaway regions of South Ossetia and Abkhazia.
“Vollebaek will hold a number of meetings with the representatives of the Georgian government. First of all, with the Georgian ombudsman and the diplomats accredited in our country,” Kalandadze said.
Vollebaek last visited Georgia in November 2010. Earlier, he took part in a discussion of a “Strategy on the Occupied Territories: Involvement by Cooperation,” adopted by the Georgian government in 2010.
