Electric cars will soon appear in the ancient and historic city of Mtskheta, once Georgia’s capital, says GHN.
Governor of Mtskheta-Mtianeti Cezar Chocheli said in an interview with GHN, that after the reconstruction works in the old town, cars will no longer be allowed -- traffic will be pedestrian only.
The governor also said that the authorities are considering purchasing electric cars in order to improve the tourist service sector.
The electric vehicles will circulate from the central bus station to Svetitskhoveli Cathedral and the Samtavro Convent in Mtskheta.
At the initial stage, the authorities are intending to purchase three electric cars, which will fit eight people. They are conducting negotiations with Korean and European manufacture companies. The budget of the project is about 65,000 lari ($39,200).
