Georgian Foreign Minister Grigol Vashadze held a July 14 meeting with accredited foreign diplomats, during which he announced that Girogi Abdaladze, the MFA photographer accused of spying, had had no access to secret documents at the ministry.
At the same time, Vashadze stated that any document from a Georgian ministry is of interest for Russia and others hostile towards Georgia. Vashadze told the diplomats that attempts to link the photographers’ arrests with infringement of media freedom are no more than speculation.
According to the minister, there is irrefutable proof of the arrested photographers’ guilt. However, Vashadze told them to await the court’s decision.
Vashadze answered all the questions posed by the diplomats. In particular, they discussed Russia’s WTO membership, provocations in the breakaway Georgian regions and the Georgian MFA’s future plans.
